This was reported today, July 6, by the press service of the National Police of Ukraine.
According to investigators, in 2003, during a dispute in Yerevan, the individual fatally wounded a local resident with a knife and fled. While internationally wanted, he used a forged passport with fictitious personal details and repeatedly crossed Armenia’s state border illegally. Furthermore, according to case materials, the suspect, along with accomplices, organized the preparation of a contract killing.
“Based on materials from the competent authorities of the Republic of Armenia, the man, together with accomplices, organized the preparation of a contract killing of a chosen victim. A reward of $10,000 to $15,000 was promised to the potential perpetrator for carrying out the crime, however, the act was not brought to completion,” the statement reads.
Investigators also established that the suspect had previously faced criminal charges for robbery, intentional bodily harm, and illegal possession of weapons. Police apprehended the wanted individual in Kyiv on June 29.
“Measures are currently underway to extradite the man to the Republic of Armenia to face criminal charges for previously committed offenses. His involvement in crimes committed in other countries is also being verified. Additionally, the reasons for his presence in Ukraine are being determined,” the statement indicates.
